Hydraulic Jar Accelerator (Single-Acting)
Wenzel jar accelerators are hydraulic springs that store energy in order to intensify jarring impact. When overpull is applied to the drilling jar, the accelerator extends via tension and stores energy in the hydraulic chamber. When the jar fires, stored energy is instantly released, accelerating drill collars above the jar.
Accelerators supplement insufficient drill pipe stretch during jarring operations, which can occur in very shallow holes. They are also recommended for use in extended reach or deviated wells where jar performance could suffer due to hold drag. Wenzel accelerators can also prevent shock waves and other vibrations from travelling up the drill string, protecting your assets in a way similar to that of our shock tool. The operation of our accelerators is independent of fluid circulation, and full torque can be transmitted through the tools.
Built to last
Wenzel jar accelerators are built to last through repeated use in the harshest conditions. Featuring a sealed and lubricated spline drive, and hardened/reinforced components, our accelerators provide long service life under high torque and stroking applications.
Features
- The hydraulic jar accelerator is designed to enhance the operation of single-acting drilling jars
- If you wish to accelerate double-acting jars, refer to our double-acting hydraulic jar accelerator
- Supplements insufficient drill pipe stretch during jarring operations
- Prevents jarring shock waves and other vibrations from travelling up the drill string
- Sealed and lubricated spline drive ensures long service life under high torque and stroking applications
- Full torque can be transmitted through the accelerator
- Operation is independent of fluid circulation
- External sealing surfaces are tungsten-carbide coated to enhance wear and corrosion resistance.
- Standard seals in the tool are effective to 250ºF (120ºC). Our hot hole seal kit is available for operation in environments up to 400ºF (200ºC)
Ideal use cases
- Shallow holes where little pipe stretch is available
- Extended reach or highly deviated wells where jar performance could suffer due to hole drag
