Vibration Reduction and Better Drilling

When drilling through tough, hard rock formations and/or using aggressive hammer drilling tools, additional vibration can occur and cause excessive stress to drill bits.

The Wenzel Shock Tool helps reduce bit vibration without lifting the bit from its point of contact. Results include better bore holes, increased rate of penetration (ROP) and extended life of bottom-hole assembly (BHA) equipment.

Specialized Variations

When properly configured and positioned, our Shock Tool becomes essential to the performance of your BHA. In particular, we offer two unique variations of our Shock Tool for specific applications.

V-Series Shock Tool

The V-Series Shock Tool is designed for use with our UltraVibe Axial Vibration Tool valve assembly. When the two tools are used in tandem, the V-Series Shock Tool helps spread the axial vibrations created by the UltraVibe further along the drill string. By smoothing out and lengthening these vibrations, axial shock loads can be reduced by up to 20% while drilling power increases.

Strategic placement of the UltraVibe / Shock Tool combination can reduce drag along well bore, improve weight transfer to bit, increase ROP and extend capability for longer horizontal wells.

Series 8 Shock Tool

The Wenzel Industries Series 8 Shock Tool was designed specifically for our customers in the Middle East who engage in deep vertical gas well drilling.

  • Currently available with 12″ outside diameter (OD) housing

Hydraulic Mechanical Jars

Our hydraulic mechanical drilling jars provide the reliable hydraulic performance of our other jars with an added mechanical latch that eliminates unexpected jarring during operation and handling.

Jar Placement Utility

The Jar Placement Utility is a software application developed in-house by Wenzel engineers to help drillers optimize the placement of their drilling jars and hydraulic accelerators based on the specific parameters of their run.
