Satellite Components

Built for orbit. Proven on the ground.
WZL Industries provides production-grade precision machining for satellite thermal structures, bus components and structural assemblies. From our Wisconsin manufacturing facility, we produce complex, tight-tolerance components at the repeatable volumes required by modern satellite constellations.
With more than 45 years of production experience, an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system and active experience supporting a large-scale low Earth orbit satellite program, WZL Industries understands the precision, consistency and delivery discipline aerospace manufacturers demand.
Precision machining for satellite components
Satellite programs require more than the ability to manufacture a technically challenging part. They require a production partner capable of delivering the same quality across hundreds or thousands of components while maintaining documentation, traceability and dependable schedules.
WZL Industries specializes in high-volume, complex aluminum prismatic machining for sophisticated aerospace applications. Our horizontal machining systems support efficient multi-face production, helping reduce handling, improve repeatability and maintain stable throughput as programs scale.
We are particularly well suited for long-life constellation programs requiring approximately 500 to more than 10,000 components annually.
Satellite components we manufacture
Our precision machining capabilities are suited to a wide range of satellite and spacecraft applications, including:
- Radiator panels and thermal-management structures
- Cold plates and heat-spreader assemblies
- Satellite bus panels and structural frames
- Propulsion-system brackets and interface plates
- Payload mounting structures and optical benches
- Antenna mounts and RF interface components
- Separation-system components and deployer interfaces
- Avionics and power-system housings
- Custom aluminum structures and assemblies
Whether the application involves thermal control, structural support, payload integration or onboard electronics, our team works to produce components that meet demanding dimensional, surface and performance requirements.
Active satellite production experience
WZL Industries is currently producing thermal-management components for a large-scale LEO satellite constellation program. That experience has given our team a practical understanding of the requirements associated with repeatable aerospace production—from precision machining and inspection to capacity planning and schedule control.
We are not learning aerospace production on your program. Our people, equipment and manufacturing processes are already supporting components intended for use in orbit.
Constellation-scale manufacturing
Modern satellite constellations have created a new type of aerospace manufacturing challenge. Components must meet aerospace-level quality expectations while being produced at volumes and rates more commonly associated with mature industrial production programs.
WZL Industries is built for that intersection.
Our production-focused approach combines automated horizontal machining, palletized workflows, multi-face processing and disciplined quality control. This allows us to support consistent part quality and predictable output across extended production runs.
Our ideal aerospace program
WZL Industries is an especially strong fit for programs involving:
- Complex aluminum components
- Multiple machined faces and critical interfaces
- Recurring annual volumes of 500 to 10,000 or more units
- Long-term satellite or constellation platforms
- Tight delivery schedules and planned production ramps
- Domestic manufacturing requirements
Quality built into production
Satellite components must perform reliably in an environment where repair or replacement may be impossible. WZL Industries approaches aerospace manufacturing with disciplined process control, detailed inspection and a commitment to repeatable quality.
Our manufacturing operations are supported by an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system. ITAR registration and AS9100 recertification can also be made available to support applicable program requirements.
